Because They Don’t Know Yet
A Moving Scene
John 11:1-14
I. Key Idea
Today is the last Sunday of the year. The word “last” may be associated with death because death represents the end. However?A just as there is next year after the end of this year?A there is eternal life after our death on earth.
All Christians are familiar with the story of Lazarus. Why is this story famous? It’s because a dead person was resurrected from the death. This is indeed a miracle. If Jesus resurrected Lazarus right after his death?A non-believers may say that Lazarus actually did not die but just fainted. If we read the scripture closely?A it is clear that Jesus could have healed Lazarus before his death but intentionally waited for his death. We know this because Jesus chose not to go to Lazarus right away when He heard that Lazarus was sick. In another words?A Jesus waited until Lazarus died. Jesus waited a couple days after Lazarus’ death in order to glorify God.
When you read this story?A what do you envy? Most people say that they envy Lazarus was resurrected from the dead. Some people say that Lazarus is lucky to have two sisters with strong faith. It is true that Lazarus was lucky to be resurrected and have two sisters with strong faith. However?A he was especially lucky that he was so dearly loved by Jesus that Jesus even cried for him.
Fellow Christians loved by God?A I ask that you will put all the sins that you have committed this past year on the cross and live with stronger faith in Jesus in the new year to come.
