The One Who Moves Gods Heart
II Chronicles 20:1-13
I. Key Idea
Wars between Judah and inhabitants around them were not just a physical war but also a war between good and evil from spiritual point of view. Therefore?A wars against the inhabitants must be won. King Jehoshaphat had a strong army and possessed extreme amount of wealth and glory. Moabites?A Ammonites?A with some of the Meunites came to wage war against him and they have reached En Gedi?A a place not that far from Jerusalem. In this urgent situation?A Jehoshaphat proclaimed a fast for all Judah. All nations gathered in front of God and prayed to Him for His help. They asked God to show His mighty power by offering the prayers that once Solomon offered after he built the temple.
We can learn a very important lesson through faithfulness of Jehoshaphat. When we face hardships and trials?A it is important to face them and try to overcome?A but it is our top priority to pray to God for His help first.
As a result?A Jehoshaphat was able to defeat the enemies with most unusual tactics. War against the inhabitants could be won not by the strength of army or the cavalries?A but by being with God. Indeed?A how much we depend on God will determine the result of war between the flesh and spirit.
