Because They Don’t Know Yet
You Too! (2 Samuel 6:1-11 )
I.Key Idea
David is going to do a great thing. He is going to bring the ark of God into his city. The ark was taken by the Philistines before. There were disasters in the places where the ark went?A so they returned the ark to Israel. And the ark has been kept in the house of Abinadab.
In the time of King Saul?A who did not have faith?A the ark was neglected for as long as 70 years. However?A in the time of King David?A whose faith was good?A the king plans to bring it to Jerusalem to keep it there?A thinking that he should not neglect it. David prepares a new cart and puts the ark on it. Then they march?A playing all kinds of musical instrument. Suddenly?A the oxen of the cart stumble. Then Uzzah reaches out and takes hold of the ark. As soon as he does it?A he dies.
God kept silent when the Philistines put the ark on a cart and sent it. Why does He not keep silent in this significant national event of Israel? This is the point. It is because there are things that God expects from David. God is saying?A “You have to be different.”
Dear saints?A it does not matter how nonbelievers live. However?A we?A who believe in God?A have to live according to God’s Word. God expects us to live a godly life?A different from theirs. The house of Obed-Edom received blessings when they kept the ark for three months. Why is it that those who kept it for 70 years did not receive blessings but those who kept it for three months received blessings? It is because in the Christian life how long is not important?A but how you served. Let us be more fervent in our Christian life.
II Small Group Discussion
1. How long is your Christian life? Do you think you served well?
2. Please share your good examples of your Christian life if you have some. Or please share examples that you are ashamed of?A if you can.
