Give Thanks to the Lord
1 Chronicles 16: 7-10
I. Key Idea
Bible commands us to give thanks. To give thanks to the Lord is our best worship. Giving thanks is not human but divine action in the sense that we human give us the glory instead of taking it for ourselves. In the garden of Eden before the Fall?A we willingly gave thanks to the Lord and gave up the glory. We can drive away sorrow and fear as we give thanks. Thanksgiving is actually the spiritual restoration of Eden. And?A as we thank God?A we have great joy. It is Gods mystery that when we give up what is desirable in our human eyes (taking glory for ourselves)?A God gives us much greater blessing (true joy). It is Gods desire that we all trust God and receive this great joy by giving thanks to God in ANY circumstances. Is Psalm 136?A David gives thanks to God remembering each of Gods faithfulness to the Israel?A His protection?A provision and intervention. As we give thanks to God and focus on Him?A we are saved from the troubles we have in this world. God is seeking those who give thanks to God for the past?A present and future. Giving thanks makes us the worshippers God is earnestly seeking.
II. Small Group Discussions
