Because They Don’t Know Yet
God-Made History through the life of Joseph
Genesis 39:20-23
Ⅰ. Key Idea
The vision and dream that God gave Joseph was too fresh and unforgettable to keep it only in his heart. His dream made his brothers so sore and mad at him that they sold him as a slave. Therefore Joseph had to leave his family and land by not his own will. What was a problem? Is there something wrong with Joseph? The story yet continues. Later Joseph as a slave faithfully served Potiphar?A an Egyptian officer. The officer’s wife however falsely accused and framed Joseph. As a result Joseph in slavery and in prison spent for total thirteen years in grief?A hate and dismay. If Joseph had been an ordinary man?A he would’ve been depressed?A wounded or collapsed mentally. He must’ve had questions; “What’s wrong?” “Will my life end up like this?” “How come the God who gave me the dream is throwing me into the abyss of despair?” He could’ve grudge God and grown desperate as much as he wanted this way. After all?A these thirteen years were not only loss of time for him?A but also the days of a slave/ prisoner in disappointment?A were they? It should’ve also been a hard situation for Joseph’s deep emotional wounds to be healed. But God even from this desperate state picked Joseph up?A healed and restored his wounded heart and eventually lifted him up to the position of a prime minister in Egypt. Joseph’s God-given dream was never a mistake.
